for New Members
This outlines how new
members can join Acton Networkers and access our online resources.
There are two parts
to joining:
1. Getting on the
member list, and
2. Joining the Yahoo
Group to post and receive messages, and access
other information.
Part 1 - Getting
on the Member List
1.
Make an initial contact by signing in at a meeting
on the signup sheet. Be sure to include your email address.
Yes, you do have to attend an Acton Networkers Group meeting to
become a member.

Driving Directions to St.
Matthew's Methodist Church
The Church is is off of Rt.2 Exit 41 (Newtown Rd./ West Acton -
Littleton). Head toward West Acton. Newtown Rd.
becomes Central Street. The large, white Church is on your left.
If you reach Idylwilde Farms (on the right) you've gone to far.
Park in the back, and come in the door on the far right.

Within 3-4 days you will receive a welcome email from the administrator.
The email will include:
- An
introduction letter saying who we are, what our mission is, method
of operation, and explaining the website;
- Copy
of recent Excel spreadsheet with member profiles;
- Blank
Excel spreadsheet for including new member profile.
3.
Fill in your information on the blank spreadsheet and return
to actonnetworkers-owner@yahoogroups.com
Part 2 - Joining
Yahoo Groups and the Acton Networkers Group Mailing List
After receiving your
group introduction letter, you can then both register as a Yahoo
Groups users and then join the Acton Networkers Group. To
fully access the group website, you first need to be a registered
Yahoo user.
1.
From your web
browser, go to
http://groups.yahoo.com:
- Click the Register
link on the upper right of the screen.
- Complete the registration
form and click the Submit This Form button on the bottom
of the page. (You need to scroll to see it.)
- A Registration Completed
screen appears. You will immediately receive an email confirmation
that is a web page with a link to activate your new account.
- Click on the activate
link (Click here to activate your
new account.) and verify your password. Click the Continue
to Yahoo! link

Go to the Acton Networkers Yahoo web site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ActonNetworkers.
3.
Click the (Already a member? Sign in to Yahoo!) link.
4. Sign
in with your Yahoo ID and password. The next screen set allows you
to set your membership options
5. Choose
your email address, message delivery type, and message format. Click
the Join button at the bottom.
6. A
Membership Confirmed screen appears. Click the link for Go to Acton Networkers Home to go to the site.
7. The
next time you want to access the site, sign in at Yahoo Groups.
The next screen will list your groups on the left under My Groups.
Click on ActonNetworkers
to go to the site. Or you can simply bookmark the web site and go
there directly, without the multi-step sign-in process.
Note: While on the
Yahoo site, you may optionally create and publish a "My Yahoo" profile
to further publicize information about yourself.
